"крайне редко" --- сильное преувеличение

умножение матрицы на матрицу в численных методах встречается сплошь и рядом, например в методе Гаусса, QR факторизации и сведении к конденсированной форме. Что значит используется и является узким местом (или одним из них) в решении систем линейных уравнений, нахождении детерминантов, методе наименьших квадратов, нахождении собственных и сингулярных значений плотных матриц.
